…and that word is “can’t.” Please leave this word out of your vocabulary for volleyball. Thank you.
Just a reminder that we travel to Springs for a shared practice /scrimmage on Monday. We will not be back in time for the 5:00 bus so please plan to get picked up at school (I estimate we will return around 5:30). Have a great weekend!
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon with lots of family and friends present, the East Hampton Bonackers put a bow on the 2012 season by neatly dispatching the John Glenn Knights by a score of 4-3. After Glenn had blanked East Hampton the previous day, the Bonackers and their eleven seniors made sure they would prove victorious in their final game. Below are some pictures of the game (courtesy of Ms. Vaziri). Goodbye seniors, your coaches will certainly miss your leadership, passion and spirit.
The Bonackers travelled to Elwood to take on John Glenn on Monday and hit well, thrashing the Knights 12-4. The second game for the series is scheduled for today, Thursday 5/10, but inclement weather has the game in serious jeopardy. Please stay tuned for updates.
Ok, I’m finally ready to write something on last Saturday’s loss to Bayport 13-11. What I want everyone to remember from this game is how our kids never quit, despite being down by a score of 8-1 early and going into their final at-bat down 13-7. Sometimes this game that we love doesn’t seem fair, but that just adds another level of depth to our national pasttime. I want to tell each one of our kids how proud Coach Bahns, Coach Brophy and I are of their efforts.
Michael Abreu pitched an absolute gem, going 7 innings without allowing an earned run and giving up only 4 hits in East Hampton’s win at Baseball Heaven. The Bonackers now need to win their 4 remaining games in order to qualify for the playoffs. The Phantoms come to East Hampton today for a game at 2:30. Hope to see you out there!
